"Simply Solitaire" Sodalite cabochon ring in 18K Yellow Gold over 925 SS sz 8
Sodalite is a group of minerals also known as the feldspathoid group. It was first discovered in 1811 by Europeans in Greenland. Sodalite is primarily blue but can be found as white, yellow, red, and green. Sodalite was first described in 1811 for the occurrence in its type locality in the Ilimaussaq complex, Narsaq, West Greenland and is now used for cabochon gemstones because of its deep blue color. This gem has very little veining that is usually found in sodalite gems. It is a durable gem that can be worn during the day or evening.
